During
the full moon of the sunny month of March, one of the main events of the Hindu
calendar, Holi, the festival of colours, takes place in northern India.
For us, innocent foreigners, Holi presents an uncommon experience, one that
we would not have missed at any price. “Is there anything like this festival
of colours in your country?” we were constantly asked in the preceding days
to this event. Well, no, I keep digging into my old memories of far-off Europe,
there is nothing, absolutely nothing there to compare to Holi. A collective
excitement, where each person, from the richest to the simplest, the most serious
to the weirdest return for a few hours to their childhood fantasies
