| The
Indian sitar and tanpura are nowadays mostly crafted out of Toon (or Tun
as sometimes written in Western phonetic translation), an Indian variety
of the Red Cedar: 'Cedrella Toona'. The Teak which was used before has run
largely out of supply ... and even Tun is available in restricted volumes
these days. While visiting British Columbia, Canada's Western foresty region, Green Onion will do some investigations on the supply of Western Red Cedar as a possible replacement for Tun. |
