Mr. HARICHAND SHARMA finds Toon most suitable for musical instruments. Although the grains of the wood should be quiet straight, he says, some knots don't matter. Toon should not be used for the pegs for which Rosewood is far more suitable. According to Mr. Harichand Sharma Toon grows in India's Northeast hilly regions as well as Nepal.

Though one problem with Toon is it's sensitivity to humidity; the formerly used Teak had lesser problems due to it's oiliness. But therefore the lesser weight of the wood is a big advantage. The supplies of Teak have grown to a minimun as well and is for that reason very expensive.
